Frequently Asked Questions

What is educational therapy?

Educational therapy is a specialized form of personalized instruction designed to help students with diverse learning styles, methods, and academic needs. It focuses on addressing underlying learning challenges and empowering students to develop essential academic skills, such as math and language arts. The educational therapy process involves innovative and prescriptive instruction, targeted interventions, and the use of research-backed methodologies to support students in reaching their full potential.

How does educational therapy differ from traditional tutoring?

While traditional tutoring often focuses on helping students complete homework or review specific topics, educational therapy takes a comprehensive approach to address the underlying causes of learning difficulties. It goes beyond content delivery and focuses on developing foundational skills, addressing learning gaps, and improving overall academic performance. Educational therapy aims to unlock a student's potential by providing individualized instruction and implementing research-based strategies tailored to their unique needs.

What age groups do you work with?

I work with students of various age groups, ranging from early elementary to high school. My instructional strategies and materials are adapted to suit the developmental needs and academic goals of each student. Whether your child is struggling with early math concepts or needs support in advanced language arts skills, I am equipped to provide personalized educational therapy that meets their specific requirements.

How long are the educational therapy sessions?

Each educational therapy session typically lasts 50 minutes. The duration allows for focused instruction, individualized attention, and engagement in hands-on activities. However, depending on the needs and preferences of the student, session length can be customized to accommodate their attention span and learning goals.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes, I offer virtual sessions through Zoom. Virtual sessions provide flexibility and convenience for both students and their families. Whether you choose to attend sessions in person or virtually, you will receive the same high-quality instruction and individualized support to help you succeed academically.

How often should my child attend educational therapy sessions?

To maximize the benefits of educational therapy and establish a consistent learning rhythm, I recommend scheduling sessions 2-3 times per week. Regular and frequent sessions allow for ongoing progress, reinforcement of skills, and continuous support. However, the frequency of sessions can be customized based on your child's needs and availability.

How do you assess a student's learning needs?

I conduct an initial assessment session to gain a comprehensive understanding of your child's strengths, areas for improvement, and unique learning needs. During this session, we engage in interactive activities, review past work, and discuss your child's academic history. This assessment helps me develop a personalized educational therapy plan that addresses your child's specific challenges and learning goals.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that unexpected circumstances may arise, requiring the cancellation or rescheduling of sessions. To ensure efficient scheduling and fairness to all clients, I kindly request a 24-hour notice for cancellations or changes to individual and small group scheduled sessions. If 24-hour notice is not received, the session fee will still be charged.  With advance notice, I will make every effort to accommodate a rescheduled session that same week that suits your availability.  Workshops, camps, grouped classes, and semesters are prepaid and not refundable.

Do you accept charter school funds?

Yes!  I am an approved vendor with South Sutter and Cottonwood.  If you are in another charter school and would like to use your funds for my services, I will work with you to become a vendor with that charter school.
